Fatal Tide East Salem Trilogy Lis W Wiehl Pete Nelson Books Reviews

I read the two previous books in this series, although it has been a few month since I read the last one. The first third to half of the book I was lost. I couldn't grasp what was happening and when it began to come together I did not have a full understanding of how this fit in with the other two. While the end of the book was interesting, it just was not up to the other books I have read by Lis Wiehl.
I was really disappointed that the next two books were basically a repeat of the first book, what is up with that. I felt like I was reading the first book over half way through the second book and again into the 3rd. I quit reading and will most likely toss the books as I could not recommend or put anyone else through this repeat, repeat story. Waste of my time and money.
The author is fantastic. Her stories are suspenseful, thought provoking, and entertaining. She is one of the very best authors - and I read at least one book a week. I highly recommend her books to everyone. Her writing style is easy to read, witty, thought provoking, intriguing, very suspenseful and has a spiritual nature regarding good and evil and the battle that constantly is in play between the two forces. Plus (as if she needed a plus) she is a Fox New commentator. Listening to her on Fox News is a delight. What an accomplished woman!!! She is highly educated, has great instinct, sound core values, articulate and much more. I am touting her praise to everyone - her novels are wonderful.
This book is about the forces of Good and Evil, and, although it was interesting, was not the type of book I usually read. It has "horrible creatures" who were Evil, plus the "good" people who were angels on earth and saved the lives of the characters. It kept my interest, but I could feel the evil, and did not like that part of it. Those who like "creatures" and the fight between Satan and God would love it. I kept interested enough to read it all, but in my mind, it was not one of her best books.
I was disappointed in the final book of the trilogy. I enjoyed the first and second books..but the third left me unsatisified. The ending was full of loose ends that dangled in front of the reader's eyes. I would have liked to have had a fourth installment to handle the wedding, what happens with Quinn and Cassandra...and dealing with the aftermath of the demise of St. Adrian's. It certainly was the most farfetched of the three...maybe a bit over the top. Appears that the writers lost their steam in the final novel and just pushed the book over the cliff.
I really enjoyed this trilogy. If you like Frank Peretti (e.g. This Present Darkness) and Randy Alcorn (e.g. The Ishbane Conspiracy), you will love this series. If you don't believe in or care for supernatural warfare (angels and demons), you will most likely hate it, so don't buy it. I thought it was well written, the characters had some depth, and the story line was very interesting. I looked forward to reading it every evening. In fact, I had the first installment in a paperback which I donated to my local library; when I saw the second and third installments, I re-purchased the first on my kindle and re-read it, and then bought the second and third at full price (rare for me) because I couldn't wait to see what happened next.
I've been sitting on pins & needles awaiting the unveiling of the "rest of the story" and what direction the writer would take us. I was not dissapointed. The plot was superb and thought provoking, there are some limitations regarding our thinking process when it comes to the supernatural and how angels and demons interact within life and our culture. It would be a shame to judge this book on the basis of our finite minds and not allow the writers to give us a glimpse of the possiblities in the battle of good and evil. If we keep our focus on the point of this story we will truly appreciate the creativity of the characters on both sides of the spectrum related to human weaknesses such as pride, love, unforgiveness and lack of honesty. It was an excellent story which opens our eyes to the what ifs in life and how God can work in any mystery that unveils as we live our own story.
