It should tell you something when the overview for the author (https//www./Pamela-Martin/e/B0057OS8SA/ref=dp_byline_cont_book_1) has a typo ("staring" when it is supposed to be "starring"), but this book is simply horrible. Incredibly weak writing and implausible plot. Don't waste your time or money.
Walking the Dragon is a great ride! Everything you want in a great thriller! Do yourself a favor and get on board with this epic journey!

I picked this up on a lark and was immediately disappointed. I couldn't get through it all before I gave up.
Waking the Dragon by Pamela Martin is a fast-paced political thriller focusing on ex-CIA operative Pamela Graham, who finds herself drawn into the world of espionage and intrigue once again. This time around she is caught in a corporate struggle between conservative Presidential candidate Donald Wynn and two overseas conglomerates the Chinese-owned Sinopec and the Russian-based Rosneft. Exacerbating the situation is a power play between two lobbyist groups, the Brazilian Grove and the Bonham Grove. Marisol Vega, a key figure in the Brazilian Grove, is kidnapped in an attempt to distract the Grove from the political firestorm ahead. Pamela finds herself in an uneasy alliance with CIA agents Hansen, Trowbridge and Cordas as they attempt to infiltrate the infrastructure of Chinese President Yang Bin and find out what lengths the Sino-Soviet alliance will go to in neutralizing Wynn’s Presidential bid.

Martin’s skill as a writer is what makes this story unique. Most genre writers would require 300+ pages to develop such an intricate storyline, but this author pulls it off with expert aplomb. The family dynamics between Pamela, her dad Benjamin and son Alex are explored as they are pitted against the calculating Catherine Caddaric and the Bin brothers who act as the driving force behind the Chinese seat of power. The theme of deception resonates throughout the novella as Pamela is faced with the possibility of a conspiracy reaching as far as the ranks of the CIA itself. This is full of twists and curves that make it a real page-turner.

For espionage fans and suspense/thriller buffs alike, Waking the Dragon by Pamela Martin is one you may end up devouring in one sitting.

This book has a nice rhythm to it. Great detail and deals with issues right off the front pages of the NY Times. Great Read.
