Samantha's life is turned upside down when her mother leaves her father and moves in with her rich new boyfriend who has two sons of conveniently similar age at the rival high school.

I didn't mind the story, hence the three stars, but the delivery left a lot to be desired. I read Paper Princess before this and I don't really care if they ripped off this story, they did it ten times better.

This book is full of one-dimensional characters, petty adults who act and sound like teenagers, excessive underage drinking and far too much sex but apparently you can build a whole relationship between that and constantly 'protecting' the girl by pushing her behind you. Talking and going on dates is totes overrated guys. The characters motivations didn't always make a lot of sense like how main character is so consumed by her reputation but doesn't actually seem to care what people think of her and her mother's boyfriend says exactly one thing to her in the whole book which is along the lines of wanting to get to know her but then makes zero effort to do this.

Some of the logistics were difficult to understand, the overuse of some words annoyed me especially the same word repeated twice within one or two sentences, some bits made absolutely no sense and apparently going away for a long weekend means leaving in the middle of the night on Saturday and getting back in the middle of the school day on Monday with a hangover so bad you can't remember beating someone up.

I try not to be too picky about grammar especially since the Kindle versions seem to suffer from issues with this more than printed copies but the misuse of your/you're twice on page 138 was too much for me and I'm pretty sure Adam and Becky don't live together.. "I soared past Adam and Becky’s house once, and then ran past it again." Also words and/or punctuation seem to be missing from some sentences.. "What are you going to tell him why we’re leaving?"

I'm suffering withdrawals from The Royals so I'll probably keep reading this series but I really hope the next book was edited before it was published.

Fallen Crest High Fallen Crest Series Book 1 edition by Tijan Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

The success of these books made me think the editorial issues would have been solved by now (most of the lower star reviews were dated from 2016). But wow... this book still needs editing work. There are lots of typos and missing words in sentences. But most importantly, this book is very difficult to follow because of a general lack of description. It's not clear to me if the book is meant to read this way or if it's just a download issue. Like examples include "I made my mind long ago." Awkward phrasing... like you made your mind UP long ago? Or like sentences that just discontinue. "I knew both of them were waiting for me, but" -- then the next paragraph begins.

Half the time I couldn't follow what was going on until it was mentioned later in the story what had happened - usually through dialogue. It's like the descriptions of the environment are missing. The storytelling is stilted and choppy and jumps rapidly from thing to thing with no arc or curve. There's very little development of characters - the interactions are based on frowning, holding an intense stare, walking or running. It's like reading a summary of a concept, rather than an actual realized story.

This book was recommended to me because I loved the Elite Series (some) and the Royal Series (LOOOOVE). And I was really into the cover art and idea. Unfortunately, I would not venture past book one in this one because it was just too full of editorial issues. I've heard a lot of good buzz about this author. Perhaps I will try a different title of hers from a different series.
This book was just ok. I liked the Storyline enough to keep reading. But I just read The Royals Series a few months ago, and those books are much better written in all aspects. This storyline is very simplistic. Events just happen. Lots of drama for the sake of drama, and drawing out the storyline. At times too much is left out and things don’t make sense. For instance its starts the last weekend of summer, before starting their Junior year in high school. Maybe two months pass in the storyline, it’s hard to follow, and Sam mentions she’ll be 18 in 4 months. So basically she’ll be 19 the majority of her Senior year? I find this hard to believe. Especially since Mason is older. Maybe she failed a grade, but Sam is portrayed as being very smart, so I don’t know? Another example is they go away on a “trip”, Mason says 3 or 4 days, and it’s “a long weekend anyway”, they leave in the middle of the night on Saturday, and go back and head to school because its the middle of the day on Monday. So one day!!! There are instances like this throughout the book. Things are hinted at, but never fully divulged. In the beginning it’s hinted that Sam may have had an eating disorder and ran too much previously. Now she never eats and goes running for 2 or 3 hours, and no one cares. It’s like the author was going in one direction and decided to take it in another direction without editing out the old stuff. And these teens drink excessively, have sex, and fight, and the parents don’t care. But then get grounded for the most ridiculous things. And the end, I have no idea what happened at the end. It was all mashed together.

Things are described horribly, it vaguely describes their physical positions, then he brushes her thigh, and I’m just wondering how? I even read descriptions over and over and can’t imagine how it would work with the next description or action in the book. The author has an image in her mind, but can’t accurately portray it on paper. And this is continually throughout the book. Don’t think about it too hard, just go with it, and you can get over it. Still annoying though.

There are a ton of grammatical and spelling errors, and just awful sentence structure. It was enough to distract from reading. There are a lot of characters, when they have conversations, sentences are just thrown out and at times I had no idea who was saying what. If I decided to continue with the series, I only hope the author found an editor to help.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend. But if someone asked how I liked it, or if they should read it, I’d tell them all the above and say you decide. I’d actually recommend The Royal Series. I’m still deciding if I’m going to continue with the series. I’m probably going to read a different book, and see if I want to come back to this series afterwards.
